We start Episode 004 with the final time flash that lands everyone in 1974, where they encounter the Dharma Initiative. In between 1974 and our first glimpses of 1977, we see Sawyer around the time of his parents' death. The episode concludes with Jack, Kate, and Hurley waking up on the island after taking Ajira 316 to get back to the island.

wish you'd have cut in the better edit of jack waking up in the jungle from the beginning of '316' instead of the end, helps preserve jack's intro to the series which is key to the ending
ReplyDeleteFair point, although the rest of the scene is from the beginning, so we're really just talking about the difference between him gasping as he opens his eyes and his eyes just fluttering open. I don't think the moment that's missed is that crucial.

You have cleared up, for me at least the feud between Jacob and MiB and given me a newfound look at this show. Thank you. DeleteI agree with cardow0015 above ^. It would be nice, and probably better, having the shot where all you see is Jack's eye as it opens and he gasps. Being chronologically in order, now THIS scene is the introduction to Jack's character. That shot would be more meaningful and significant to directly relate it to his arrive on the island in 2004 and his death at the end of the series. Do you plan on doing another update soon? It would be awesome if you could put that tiny shot in there! :)
ReplyDeleteFair point. I don't have any plans right now to do an update, although our conversation about the first episode does kind of make me want to go back and make some changes. I might go through and come up with a list of all the changes that have been pointed out to me since I came out with the final batch of episodes, and see if it's plausible for me to take the time and make the changes.
DeleteThat would be awesome. But I totally understand, something like this is a huge project that I'm sure takes a lot of time, so I definitely understand if you don't have time to do it. And by the way, thank you SO much for putting this huge thing together. I'm sure it was a ton of work. But I just want to say that I am, along with I'm sure tons of LOST fans, eternally grateful to you for it! I love it!

ReplyDeleteNo idea if you're STILL responding to comments but this is a trip to watch and you've done an amazing job of arranging all the pieces, I replied to this post because I'm confused as to why episode 4 is "Day 1" and I'm having a hard time finding anything. there should be a wiki specifically for this version of the show.
