Episode 032: September 30 to October 3, 2004 (Days 9-12)

As we finish out the month of September, Kate gets to see a little more of Sawyer than the rest of us are able to see on network TV.  That's the highlight of the episode for Sawyer, as he beats up Boone for going through his stuff, and he's also suspected of knocking Sayid out.  When Shannon has an asthma attack and needs her inhaler, Jack and Sayid knock Sawyer out and Sayid tortures him to find out where the inhalers are.  Sawyer reveals he doesn't have them, but Sun is able to help Shannon with eucalyptus leaves.  Sawyer gets stabbed through the arm, and during his recovery, Kate figures out that the letter Sawyer carries around is actually a letter he wrote as a child when his parents were killed.  Sayid is troubled by his actions, and decides to leave the camp for a while, and map out the island.  While he's walking the beach, he comes across a cable that leads out to the ocean and down to the Looking Glass Dharma station.  While following the cable into the jungle, he runs into one of Rousseau's traps and is caught.  Paranoia starts to grip the tail section after Nathan was off in the jungle by himself, and the following night the Others take nine more from their group.  Ana Lucia manages to kill one of them, and then starts to accuse Nathan of working with the Others.  Sayid is cut loose from his trap, but loses consciousness before he sees who it was that cut him down.  We close out the episode with Sayid waking up in restraints, being asked where Alex is and getting shocked when he says he doesn't know.  This episode runs 47:06 and is 379MB to download.  You can stream below (via Facebook), or go here to use torrents (better quality, recommended) to download the episodes to your computer.

  1. Sayid was the one character I think they cast poorly. Naveen doesn't look Iraqi at all, and his accent isn't convincing. I'm not that impressed with his acting ability either.

  2. David:
I don't agree. I really like Naveen Andrews as Sayid. He's a fine actor who really transformed his real Cockney accent to his own Iraqi accent as Sayid. He's also a great actor who was nominated for an Emmy after this season. He's also brilliant in the Best Picture movie "The English Patient" from 1996.

  3. Interesting, I had no idea he was in "The English Patient".

I liked Naveen a lot in the show. I can't speak to his authenticity as far as appearing or sounding like an Iraqi, but I feel like it was good enough that your average viewer would buy into it. And I really felt like he brought a lot to the character, his strengths, his flaws, and I really bought into his emotions. He maybe was a little over the top at times, but then again so was LOST, so I can't fault him too much for that.

    1. Hi Alisha. Thanks for the heads up. After doing some googling it would appear that this is an issue created for Comcast internet users (I can verify that as a non-Comcast user I do not have this problem).

I don't know if there's anything I can do specifically on my end, but I did find this solution for Comcast subscribers in my google searching: https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Email-Web-Browsing/Unblock-all-websites/m-p/3303661/highlight/true#M215393

    3. Could be Comcast flagged it as a possible filesharing site or something like that, and since your router has that block setting enabled it’s now tagged when you visit the site. I doubt there’s anything I’d be able to do about it, unfortunately.
