Episode 028: September 23-24, 2004 (Days 2-3)

Fresh off the dead polar bear, Sayid's crew continues on to higher ground, where they first hear Rousseau's message broadcasting from the radio tower.  Jack tries to help the US Marshal, and finds out Kate was his prisoner at the time of the crash.  The tail section struggles to survive, having trouble finding food to eat, but unwilling to move into the jungle for fear of the Others.  Kate has an encounter with the Marshal, and Michael tries to find Vincent.  Sawyer tries to put the Marshal out of his misery by shooting him, but misses his heart and he's left to die a longer, more painful death instead.  Locke creates a dog whistle to get Vincent back, and we wrap up the episode with one of our typical LOST montages featuring all of our characters, with some pleasant music overlaid, but not before a creepy closing image of Locke scowling out to the camera.  This episode runs 43:55 and is 362MB to download.  You can stream below (via Facebook), or go here to use torrents (better quality, recommended) to download the episodes to your computer.

  1. It's pretty obvious they knew from the beginning the smoke monster was gonna takes Locke's form. They even played one of Smokey's sounds at the end of this episode when it panned around Locke.

I love these season one episodes 'cause it seems like they got a better grasp of what the Island is supposed to be: Jack says it in this episode, Jacob said it too. Once they come to the Island their past doesn't matter. They can start over. Watching it in chronological order makes me notice how much happier everyone is on the Island than they were before, despite the trials they go through.

  2. I will say that going back through these episodes, particularly Season 1, really made me question how much of it was planned. I had always been under the impression that about mid-way through Season 3, everything really started to firm up and they knew right where they wanted to go, and that before that they may have had some ideas, but just vague stuff. But going back through everything again, I just don't know. There are so many things, things that I guess could ultimately just end up being coincidence, but man, if they did all this by accident, kudos to them on making it all work together.

  3. Well, a lot of it wasn't planned, but the smoke monster thing with Locke was.

  4. Damon Lindelof has often said that in between S1 & 2 is where they really started coming up with the mythology.

  5. I like how in one of the first episodes they find the bodies and then only in one of the last episodes we find out who they are. Did they knew from the beginning that those people are Jacob's brother&mother?

  6. FYI: A deleted scene from this episode is, "Finding the Tell," from the Complete First Season DVD set. I'll post it on YouTube later.

  7. Shouldn't this be "Day 2-4" since it ends on the morning of Day 4?
