Episode 044: November 4-5, 2004 (Days 44 to 45)

Well, the hatch door is blowed up, the raft is blowed up, and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT!  Michael nearly drowns because he's too busy screaming for Walt to stay afloat, but Sawyer saves him.  Shannon thinks she sees Walt in the jungle, but Sayid doesn't believe her.  The natives grow restless when Jack tells them they have to stay in the caves for the evening, but he gives another live together die alone speech to calm everyone down.  Locke and Kate go off to go down the hatch even though Jack wanted to wait until the morning.  Sawyer and Michael are stuck on the raft together and are sharing a difference of opinion on how they should be spending their time.  Then they see the Dharma shark, and have other problems to worry about.  Kate gets lowered into the hatch by Locke, and is taken captive by Desmond.  Locke then follows her down, but also runs into Desmond.  Jack changes his mind, and decides to head down after Locke and Kate.  Kate's locked in the supply closet, and tries to escape by climbing up into the vents.  While she's up there, Jack yells down the hatch, then decides to come down.  Desmond sees he has a gun on him and starts to play loud music as a distraction.  Jack comes across the computer, when Desmond confronts him, holding Locke hostage.  As Desmond threatens to shoot Locke if Jack comes any closer, Jack recognizes him from when they met in Los Angeles three years ago.

On a side note, this was an interesting set of events to work on.  The raft, the hatch, outside the hatch, this was all shown to us out of order over the course of three episodes.  So I had to rearrange everything so that it was all in order (for example all of the stuff with Locke in the hatch was actually the last part of the story we were given), but then on top of that I had to reorganize some of the raft stuff to fit with the hatch stuff, to make sure everything lined up, so there was logical spacing between the two concurrent storylines.  Despite not having many split screens to deal with (just when Jack headed down into the hatch) I actually ended up spending quite a bit of time getting everything organized.  This episode runs 49:27 and is 400MB to download.  You can stream below (via Facebook), or go here to use torrents (better quality, recommended) to download the episodes to your computer.

  2. Just FYI, you put the same scene in at 31:10 and 35:51. Just pointing that out... otherwise, I'm really enjoying these!

  3. @hercrabbiness - I'm not sure I follow. 31:10 shows Jack heading back to the hatch, but at 35:51 we see Michael and Sawyer in the water. Can you clarify what you meant?

  4. Sorry, I meant 34:51, not 35:51.

  5. Thanks for the clarification. Weird, I'm not sure how that snuck its way in there.

  6. the segments with the raft in the last episode and this one probably should have been closer together since Sawyer was underwater for a long, long time otherwise!
